In most software applications, if you need a quick answer just click a link to open the online help. There you'll find many short topics, each containing the answer to one specific question. The images below show how to find the online help topic you need.
Note: These examples use information that isn't exactly typical, but they can give you an idea of how online help works. Years ago, when my team acquired our first help authoring tool, the software we wanted to document wasn't available yet. So I spent a weekend teaching myself to use RoboHelp by compiling a collection of family recipes. (Since then my help authoring skills have improved - for example I now know better than to say "click here.")
Example 1: You can use the left Contents pane to browse through the topics. When you click a "book" you'll see the topics it contains, and when you click a topic's title it opens in the right pane. Some topics contain links to other, related topics.
Example 2: A topic may be in the Contents pane more than once. For example, Red Beans and Rice is under both the Pork book and the Vegetarian book, as this recipe can be made either way.
Example 3: Another way to find what you need is using the left Search pane. As shown in the example below, topics containing the word you searched for are listed in the left pane, and when you click a topic's title it opens in the right pane.
